Inspired to become a dentist as far back as grade school, Dr. Reed Kuratomi took his first step to fulfilling that dream when he enrolled as a Predental Zoology Major at UCLA.
In 1979, he graduated with honors from Georgetown University with a DDS degree and the Award for Excellence in Fixed Prosthodontics (crown and bridgework). That year, he was selected for a General Practice Residency with the United States Public Health Service Hospital.
In 1981, Dr. Kuratomi started his private practice in Soquel. Since then, he has completed the Academy of Straight Wire and Functional Orthodontics program, the Advanced Implant Surgery Program with the Bicon Institute, and the Advanced CEREC Training Program. Dr. Kuratomi is a member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, Monterey Bay Dental Society, Academy of General Dentistry, and the Academy of Straight Wire and Functional Orthodontics.
Over the years, Dr. Kuratomi has won numerous Best Dentist Awards from the local media. He was also named one of America’s Top Dentists by the Consumer Research Council, and won a Bay Area Top Dentists award.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Kuratomi is focused on his family. He is especially proud of having his daughter, Dr. Jamie Kuratomi D.M.D., join his practice in June 2015, following her graduation from dental school.
